Taras Jazz Records is an independent jazz record label and online vinyl shop. I set it up as a working musician, collector and a listener, with the aim of creating a home for jazz that values both how the music is made and how it’s shared.

As a record label, Taras Jazz Records support artists properly. I work with a transparent revenue split that prioritises the artist. As well as this, the focus is on quality and intent, taking time with recordings, sound, presentation and context so each release feels loved.

As an online record store, curation matters. Jazz is a deep, nuanced music with a long history. Selection is from established classics to contemporary releases, every title is chosen for its musical integrity, style and staying power. This isn’t about stocking everything - it’s about offering records you can be proud to own and then build a meaningful collection around.

Vinyl sits at the centre of the project. A record asks you to slow down. It has weight and presence. It encourages deeper listening. For me, vinyl isn’t nostalgia, it’s the format that best suits jazz as an art form.

I’ve always believed collections matter. Some of the records I treasure most were handed down by my father, or swapped and gifted between friends. They carry stories. That idea shapes how I curate the shop and how I will approach each release.
