Taras Jazz Records is an independent, artist-led jazz label based in London.
We’re interested in working with distinctive artists making music with a strong identity, a clear sense of purpose and something worth building around.
We’re a small label by design. That means we won’t take on every project, but when we do work with an artist, we want to be genuinely involved in helping give the record the release it deserves.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re particularly interested in contemporary jazz and music connected to the wider jazz tradition, from established artists to musicians preparing their first substantial release.
There isn’t a particular sound a TJR release has to fit. What matters more is the music, the artist behind it and whether we believe we can add something meaningful to the project.
We’re especially interested in albums and projects where the physical release, artwork, presentation and wider story are an important part of the record.
AN ARTIST-LED LABEL
Taras Jazz Records was founded by a working musician, so we understand how important clear and honest communication is.
Sending your music to a label can feel uncertain, and few things are more frustrating than simply being left in the dark.
If you contact us about a genuine project, we will reply. Whether we think the record is right for TJR or not, you deserve to know where you stand.
Being a small label means we can be personal, responsive and straightforward. We want the relationship between artist and label to feel collaborative from the beginning.
HOW WE WORK
Every record is different, so there isn't a standard TJR deal or package.
We work with a small number of projects and build the release around what the artist and record actually need. That might mean a full label partnership or a more focused collaboration.
The starting point is always the same: the music.
